Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Diesel V8 crate engines and datsun Z cars?
Alright, so I have kind of an odd question. I've always been fond of the idea of performance diesel engines and bio diesel(either made from waste veggy oil or hemp) but trucks are too big, and most car diesel engines are small.

It's a fairly common practice to drop a SBC 350 V8 engine into a datsun 240/260/280Z, but I'd be more interested in a diesel V6/V8 in a Z car. Are there any manufactures that offer crate diesel engines that could fit under the hood of a Z car? What about transmissions(6 speed manual preferred)?

    like I said, odd question.

  2. QUESTION:
where can i get a diesel engine for my 1989 oldsmobile cutlass ciera SL?
I've been trying to crate a crate engine on mail order, but i cant seem to find one. is there any site on the enternet that i can get one?

    • ANSWER:
For a new crate engine try Pace Pontiac in Niles, Ohio. they have an internet site, and do ship mail order.
If you are going to convert gas to diesel, there is a heck of a lot more to it than just bolting up to the tranny, so think twice and then some before attempting this conversion. It's really not worth the time and effort and cost for the extra's.
