How does the air conditioner run in a hybrid vehicle when the engine is idling?

When a hybrid vehicle is idle, the engine shuts off. The air conditioning compressor is connected to the engine. So how does the A/C stay on when the engine is off when the vehicle is idling? Does the A/C shut off also?
